Robert Littlefield



Council Chair Lion Robert was born in Moorhead, MN in 1952. He graduated from Fargo North (ND) High School in 1970, earned a teaching degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1974, completed his master’s degree at NDSU in 1979, and took his Ph.D. in 1983 from the University of Minnesota. This year marks his 33rd year at NDSU where he is a professor in the communication department.
                In 1984, Littlefield was introduced to Lionism by PDG Frederick G. Walsh. He has served in many leadership positions, chairing fundraisers and service projects for his club. He served two terms as president of the Fargo Lions: 1990-91 and 2005-06. The Fargo Lions twice honored Robert as its Lion of the Year and presented him in 2005 with a Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Through Campaign SightFirst II, he gained his first MJF Progressive recognition in 2009. At the district level, he is currently serving as the LCIF Development Plan Coordinator. Robert has received eight awards from four international presidents, including a Leadership Medal from PIP Jimmy Ross. He has attended six international conventions, two USA/Canada Forums, and the Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute.
                Lion Robert and his wife, Kathy, have been married for 37 years and have two grown children: a married daughter, Lindsay (Thomas Allen) who lives in Austin, TX; and a son, Brady, living in New York City. They have one grandson, Emmett Allen.
