Past District Governor Leo Grossman

Leo joined the Carlyle District Lions Club in 1978, and has earned 28 years of perfect attendance. He served as Club President twice, earning a 100% Presidents Award both times; Club Secretary many times, earning several 100% Secretary Awards; and almost every club office including Treasurer, Director, and Lions Park Chairperson.

Leo has served on District 5CE Cabinet for 19 years, holding such offices as Zone and Region Chairperson, Peace Poster Chairperson, Public Relations and Lions Information Chairperson, Sports Chairperson organizing District and Provincial Curling and District Golf Tournaments. He served as Membership Retention Chairperson for 4 years, giving a MERL TEAM presentation at our District Training Schools, and has conducted several Club Secretary Training Schools in our District.

Several awards that Leo is proud of include a Melvin Jones Fellowship; a Lions Foundation of Canada Life Membership, 2 Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowships, and a Dog Guides Fellowship; a Lions Eye Bank of Saskatchewan Life Membership; an Extension Certificate and 2 Appreciation Certificates from the International President. He is also a Certified Guiding Lion. Lion Leo was sworn in as Governor of District 5CE in July 2006 at the Lions International Convention in Boston, and was elected MD5 Council Chairperson by his peers in March 2007.

He was born in 1948 and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Regina Campus College of Education in 1971. After teaching high school Mathematics and Science for 35 years, he retired from teaching in June 2006.

His community involvement has included coaching teams in Minor Baseball, and Junior and High School Curling. He served on the board and as President of Carlyle Minor Baseball Association and Carlyle Curling Club. His favourite pastimes are golfing and camping in the summer and curling in the winter.

Dell and Leo were married in the summer of 1970. They have 2 adult sons and 5 grandchildren.
