District Governor Ken Grummett

Lion Ken was born and raised in Saskatoon and spent most of his life in Saskatoon. He attended public school in Saskatoon and 1 ½ years in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. While in Australia Lion Ken attended school for about 13 months. It is an interesting country and Lion Ken would like to go back there someday, with his wife Cheryl.

Lion Ken took his apprenticeship in Truck and Transport Mechanical repair in the city of Prince Albert and achieved his journeyperson status. In his class of 12 Lion Ken was one of two that passed, both were from the bus industry.

Lion Ken joined the Saskatoon Downtown Lions Club in 1982 and his father was his sponsor. Ken was married in 1972 to Cheryl, who is also a Lion. Ken is a retired bus mechanic who worked for the Saskatchewan Transportation Company, the provincial bus lines for almost 30 years and retired in 2004 to become a caregiver to Cheryl’s Grandmother until her passing two and a half years later.

Ken has held most club offices including Secretary, Treasurer and President. He was the Charter Secretary for the Saskatoon Millennium Lions Club and has been President of the Millennium Lions for 3 terms and served one term as the Saskatoon Downtown Lions Club President. Ken has been Zone Chair and Region Chair for 3 terms each. Ken has served as the Treasurer of the Lions Service Foundation of Saskatoon for 4 years.

Ken is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Life Member of the Lions Foundation of Canada, received an International President’s Commendation and a two time 100% Secretary.

Ken has been the Saskatoon Lions Band President for 4 terms and is currently the Treasurer for the band. He has driven the band equipment truck on their mid west USA tour for the past 4 years and has endured sleeping on gym floors. The kids have given him the nickname “Kenny G”.

His hobbies include curling in the winter and golf in the summer.

District Governor Dennis Becker

Lion Dennis was born and raised in Burstall, Saskatchewan on the family farm, which he still farms today along side his brother. He acquiring his grade 12 diploma  and went to work at a Gas Refinery in the Burstall area. After 37 years of shift work as a Power Engineer, he retired in 2007.

Lion Dennis was introduced to this wonderful organization and joined the Burstall Lions Club in 1973. He has served in all club executive positions. At the District level he has served as Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, LFC/LCIF Chairman, District Secretary/Treasurer, Leadership Chairman and is presently serving as Vice District Governor for the new district

Lion Dennis has attended three US/Canada Lions Leadership Forums, and had the opportunity to attend the Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Lion Dennis has been awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship, a Judge Brian Stevenson Award, recipient of an International Presidents Certicate of Appreciation and has been awarded four District Governor Appreciation awards. In 2005 the Town of Burstall nominated and presented him with a Saskatchewan Centennial medal for his significant contribution to society and honors his outstanding achievements in their community.

Lion Dennis and his wonderful and supportive wife Barb have been married for 38 years.  They have two children and 5 beautiful,  healthy, grandchildren. Lion Dennis has often said  “If I knew grandkids would be this much fun, we would have had them first”
