Lionism has been
part of the Mahussier family since Lion Therese’s husband, Tony, became
a Charter Member of the Bjorkdale and District Lions Club in 1986. Lion
Tony was DG of 5CA in 1995-96. At that time, women were not allowed to
join Lions Clubs; however, that did not stop his wife, Therese, from
joining all the activities. Four years ago, Therese joined Bjorkdale
Lions Club where she enjoys the camaraderie of fellow Lions and
endorses their many humanitarian projects. Since then, DG Therese has
held the positions of President, Zone Chairperson, and Vice District
Governor.
Lion Therese lived on a farm for most of her life where they raised their seven children, but moved into the small village of Bjorkdale a few years ago (2000). DG Therese is a retired teacher, who has remained active in the church and in the community. She taught all grades from Kindergarten to Grade 9, but since she specialized in Special Education most of her career involved the younger grades. DG Therese is a member of the retired Teachers of Saskatchewan and also an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion. So you can see
with raising children, teaching school, and helping on the farm, DG
Therese has had a busy life, which she hopes to continue as she becomes
more involved in the Lions. District Governor Therese Mahussier humbly
says this of herself, “I may never be the best District Governor, but I
aim to be the best District Governor that I can be. As District
Governor, I must never forget that Lions and Lioness are volunteers,
giving freely of their time. I am always amazed at how much they
accomplish.”
